Hambright, Phillip E. 'Pid'
Phillip Eugene Hambright was born Oct. 23, 1924, to Paul and Edith (Tracht) Hambright in Bennett, Iowa. He graduated from Bennett Community Schools. Phillip was a veteran of the United States Marines serving during World War II where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He married Darlene Mae Gaul on Oct. 7, 1955, at First Presbyterian Church in Tipton. Phillip owned and operated Pid's Midway Service Station in Bennett for 18 years and later retired from Caterpillar in Mount Joy after 10 years of employment.
Phillip was a member of the Bennett Peace Church, Bennett American Legion and the Bettendorf Gung-Ho Gang. He enjoyed cooking, performing stand up comedy, and spending time with family and friends.
He was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
