Swift, Marion A.
Marion A. Swift, 85, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following complications of lung disease. Celebration of life services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Colton Clay officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Interment, with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29, will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Swift of Washington; daughters, Dr. Susan Swift of Waterloo and Gina Swift and partner Jennifer Carns of Iowa City; son-in-law, Harry Suszko of Marion; two brothers, Lawerence Swift and wife Gertrude and Bill Swift and wife Bonnie, both of Washington, Iowa; four sisters, Wanda Fritz of Washington, Edith Wellington of Washington, Martha Hawkins and husband Dale of Arizona and Annette Chalupa and husband Doug of Washington; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established for Pleasant Hill Christian Church or Washington County All Veterans Memorial Group.
