Police investigate racial graffiti at Cedar Rapids high school

Police are investigating racial graffiti found on a car parked at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Police were called to the south parking lot of Kennedy High School on Wednesday around 7 p.m. and found a red vehicle parked in the middle row plastered with a Swastika and racial epithet.
Kennedy Principal Mary Wilcynski was called to the school as a basketball tournament was going on in the gymnasium. She said the incident was harmful and hurtful but urged caution from the media.
“It can be kids being stupid and it's as simple as that. And as hurtful and harmful as it can be it's kids just not thinking and being stupid,” said Wilcynski.
Police had no suspects but said a school surveillance camera may reveal evidence that could help find those who were responsible.
Accordiing to Sgt. Jeremy Paulsen, a harassment report was filed with police by the student and an investigation is underway.
