To the editor:
On Oct. 28, my husband, myself and three other passengers were headed south on Highway 380 to attend the Cedar Falls vs Washington High School playoff game. We were struck head-on by a large deer. Needless to say, it was a traumatic experience. We were driving a Ford F-150 and the front radiator section was taken totally out, but otherwise we were all OK.
Thankfully, we received help and assistance from the most gracious people: Cedar Rapids Police Officer Alex Steffens; Yellow Cab driver, Don of cab No. 2; the driver of the tow truck sent out from AAA; and a lady who had been traveling behind us who stopped to make sure that we were OK. It was cold, dark and the traffic was heavy. The lady was alone and yet she stopped. Three of the assisters had jobs to do, but their helpfulness and kindness went above what was expected of them.
My husband Hershell, myself and our three passengers would like to thank everyone for their gracious assistance and kindness. May the Lord continue to bless us all. There are good people in this world.
