Steuber, Ruth P.
Ruth P. Steuber, 83, of 2212 26th St. SW, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness, with all her family at her side. Services: 3 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Don Loesch. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; her children, Susan Wagamon (Larry), Bobby Lathrop (Coleen), Sylvia Parry (Roger) and Sandra Feaker (Gary), all of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Caroline Hassler (Horst) of Gilroy, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Joe, Larry, Bob and Sonny.
Ruth was born March 19, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Louis and Helen Riley Levy. She married Robert Lathrop and later divorced. She then married Robert F. Steuber on June 27, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Ruth was owner and operator of Ruth's Shoes in Cedar Rapids. People knew her as the “Shoe Lady.”
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She enjoyed taking cruises and traveling around the world. Her favorite was spending time with her family and grandchildren and pet poodle, Bobbie. Ruth was a very kind, loving, generous and giving person. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
