Hach, Richard P.
Richard P. Hach, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Bill Harnish with Military Honors by VFW Post No. 788. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and until service time on Thursday. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret; a son, Allan (Florence Ellen) Hach of Cedar Rapids; and a granddaughter, Ellen (Dan) Zawierucha of Pittsford, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter-in-law, Kay (Welbes) Hach.
Richard was born Aug. 8, 1921, the son of Peter and Eleanor (Pavlicek) Hach Jr. in Cedar Rapids. On May 8, 1947, he married Margaret Gibbs in Earlville. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Richard retired at age 57 after 23 years with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
He was a member of VFW Post No. 788 and American Legion Hanford Post #5.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or to the charity of the donor's choice in Richard's memory.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors, fishing. He liked music, played in a number of bands and he loved to dance.
