Coaching staff means more than just wins

This is in response to “Iowa fans deserve more from football team” (Nov. 18 letter, Dennis Burrier). Nobody is forcing this person to watch the game, so watch something else.
It's so refreshing to hear from an armchair quarterback who thinks he can do a better job with playing and coaching the game of football. Of course, he wouldn't stop to think how he would react under pressure with time dwindling on the clock, a game on the line and the disadvantage of being away from home and trying to concentrate with all of the noise a home team always generates.
Cool as a cucumber, I'm sure.
As for Coach Kirk Ferentz, he has generated a lot of money for the school through all the team's bowl appearances. I'm sure this individual would only turn down a generous salary like Ferentz gets. Maybe all of the winning seasons were just a fluke.
Any Iowa fan feels disappointed this season, but does it justify attacking the coaching staff and players?
I'm just wondering if this individual has some pointers for Iowa's new basketball coach, too? Just one more area of his expertise.
