Hieber, Wanda Rosdail
Wanda Rosdail Hieber, 88, of Roseville, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, Amana, Iowa City and Cedar Falls, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, died at her daughter's Roseville, Calif. home after deteriorating health and a recent broken hip and arm. Memorial services will be held in June in Norway, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Caroline Dembeck, Paul Stoner and Jane deKelaita; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rosdail, Heather Rosdail, Jacob deKelaita and Melissa deKelaita; and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Jacob Rosdail and Genevieve Anderson; and her husband, Douglas M. Hieber, preceded her in death.
Wanda was born in Cedar Rapids on June 19, 1922. She grew up on a farm near Amana. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught country school after her graduation. She moved to Iowa City after marring J. Dean Stoner in 1942. They had three children Caroline 1943, Paul 1945 and Jane 1953. She later married Douglas Hieber in 1963, and were together until his death in 2005. Doug and Wanda lived in Cedar Falls for many years until they retired and moved to California in 1992. They were both librarians.
Wanda was a charter member of P.E.O. chapter XF, the International Women's Club. She was also a descendant of the “Slooper,” the first ship of Norwegian immigrants to come America in the early 1800s. She was well loved by her family and many friends and will be missed.
