Irvin "Bones" Eugene Lindley, 84, of Marion, Iowa, died Dec. 6, 2018.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Funeral services will be held at noon at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be at at North Boulder Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Irvin was born in Central City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ruby (Blount). He graduated from Central City High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving his country for 21 years. While in the Air Force, Irvin met and married the love of his life, Nobuko Shirmo, in Okinawa, Japan, in 1961. During his years of service, he served on the E.O.D. squad, which is a division of the Air Force responsible for detecting, detonating and disposing explosive threats, including nuclear warheads. After retiring from the Air Force, Irvin returned to Iowa with his wife at his side. He became a butcher and started Lindley's Meat Processing in Marion, which they owned for 20 years until his retirement. Irvin was a member of the American Legion Post 298 of Marion.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nobuko (Kay); two sons; one daughter; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
