Mathis knows value of unions

I recently received a mailing from the Iowa Right to Work group. Although they claimed the group was not endorsing any candidate, the letter was filled with praises for Cindy Golding - seemed like an endorsement to me.
The mailings I've received from local unions state clearly that they support Liz Mathis because Mathis supports improving our education system in this state and supports the rights of working people. The Iowa Right to Work group doesn't seem to understand that union participation gives members the right to work for a decent living wage!
Instead, they would rather continue to let employers have the right to hire and fire at will. Employers afraid of unions and union workers keep their workers prisoners of minimum wage and cut back and eliminate benefits like health care and retirement.
Democracy means having a voice. Unions support our democratic process and give workers a voice for safety and fairness in the workplace. Voting for Liz Mathis will give our citizens a strong voice in government - one that wants to see our state grow and prosper.
