Vote for Mr. Dye

May. 21, 2010 11:18 am
One of my teachers from good old Belmond-Klemme schools, Donald Dye, is among five finalists for LIVE! with Regis and Kelly's top teacher in the nation award.
He was my junior high English/language Arts teacher, and he now teaches at the high school level. I wouldn't know a subject from a verb from a preposition without Mr. Dye. Although I occassionally mangle the language, (sorry Mr. Dye) he taught us to have a passion for writing and reading.
He's a gifted educator who goes above and beyond for his students and is truly a class act. Regardless of whether he wins or not, this is a nice honor for him and my hometown.
As is the case with this sort of thing, there is an online vote. If you feel like casting a ballot for a great guy and a great Iowa town, the voting site is here.
You'll have to register, but it's not painful. Voting is open until 5 p.m. Saturday.
You can watch his nomination video above.
Good luck, Mr. Dye.
