RUTH M. QUAID
Marion
Ruth M. Quaid, 88, of Marion, died Feb. 2, 2016, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in Marion. No services are planned at this time.
Ruth was born April 17, 1927, to Kenneth and Alys Graham Elliott in Dubuque, Iowa. Ruth was known by all as a kind and sweet person. She was a good mother, loving wife, friendly neighbor, and a devoted member of Asbury Methodist Church and the Chada/Pautz Fellowship. She finished her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing Cedar Rapids. Here she met and married Joseph Quaid. She spent most of her life in the home they built at 298 25th Ave. SW. There she enjoyed raising their six children and the company of wonderful neighbors. As a pastime, she enjoyed trout fishing and spending time enjoying nature with her husband in beautiful Northeast Iowa.
She was the sole survivor of her generation in her family (The Last Mohican).
She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
Ruth is survived by her sons, James (Elaine) of Cedar Rapids and John (Denise) of Gulfport, Miss.; her daughters, Cathy Soppe (Tom) of Anamosa and Carolyn Bush of Cedar Rapids; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Wayne"; daughter, Kristin Anderson; and son, Jeff.
Memorial donations may be directed to Asbury Methodist Church or Chada/Pautz Fellowship.
