Shank, Ronald R. 'Ron'

Ronald R. "Ron" Shank, 71, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at his home. A gathering for family and friends is planned for Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Ronald Ray Shank was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Harold and Dorothy (McDonald) Shank. His family moved to Iowa City, where he attended school, graduating from University High School in 1960. Ron married Sandra K. Earle on April 27, 1968, in Iowa City. He had worked in this area all his life, working for Hawkeye Fabricating Co., First Avenue Skelly Station and he retired from McCabe Implement in Coralville.

His family includes his two sons, Greg Shank of Mosinee, Wis., and Steve Shank and his wife, Caren, of Iowa City; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ani and Elliott.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; and his parents.
