Bicket, Philip Lyle

Philip Lyle Bicket, 72, of 110 Liberty Street, Watkins, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Thomas of Central Assembly of God and the Rev. Rose Marie Calderon-Khan of Norway United Methodist Church. Burial: Spencer Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, Waupaca, Wis. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Friday after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Philip is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Laura Driscoll of Walford; four sons, Paul Bicket and Jeff (Lori) Driscoll, both of Cedar Rapids, Tim Driscoll of Watkins, and Larry (Heidi) Driscoll of Fort Madison; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Hailey, Chase, Dylan, Jessica, Ashley, and Samantha; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Zenus Bicket of Springfield, Mo., and David (Michelle) Bicket of London, England; and nieces and nephews, Debbie, David, Danny, Tammy, and Cindy.

His parents; a son, David; a brother, James; and in-laws, Charles and Margaret Waters preceded him in death.

Philip was born Feb. 27, 1940 in Black River Falls, Wis., the son of Paul and Marie Johansen Bicket. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. He retired after 32 years as a professor of accounting at Kirkwood Community College. Philip married Nancy (Waters) Driscoll on May 21, 1981, in Cedar Rapids.

Philip was very proud of the fact that he had donated nine gallons of blood. His passion was teaching and he enjoyed using his CDL license to drive for international students and exchange programs at Kirkwood. He enjoyed boating and gathering the family together at Lambeau Field for a tailgate party before the Green Bay Packers scrimmage game. The most important thing to Philip was spending time with his family.
