Evelyn Triebel Gallagher, 91, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids until January 2014 when she moved to Nevada to be closer to her daughter after the death of her son, Dick.
Evelyn was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the only child of Albert and Hazel Triebel. She was raised in the Time Check area of town and was a 1940 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Evelyn's main role in life was as a homemaker and caregiver. Family was the most important thing to Evelyn. Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by those she loved. She was known for her beautiful smile, loving ways, big heart and being a good neighbor and friend. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed doing stitchery and loved the Cubs, college football and basketball. Being called "mom," "grandma" and "grandma-great" brought her great joy!
