Yvonne A. Green, 83, of DeWitt, formerly of Grand Mound, died Saturday evening, Oct. 25, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Mrs. Green, the former Yvonne Annette Burgmeyer was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, to Clarence and Alma (Hense) Burgmeyer. Yvonne graduated from St. Mary's High School, Clinton. Following graduation she was a supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Clinton.
Yvonne married Hubert Green on Aug. 23, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. The couple farmed and raised their family south of Grand Mound. In later years, Yvonne worked at Helene's Fashion Center, DeWitt. She was a longtime member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound and the Friday Study Club.
Surviving are her children, Julie (Brian) Doom of Fargo, N.D., Kevin (Lori) Green of DeWitt, Melissa Summers of Cedar Rapids and Keith (Renee) Green of Grand Mound; five grandsons; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janeen (Richard) Jones of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 14, 2010; her parents; and a sister, Cheryl Bertolino.
The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Saints Philip and James Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Father William Kneemiller and Deacon Michael Sheil will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam Green, Mitch Green, Marty Green, Michael Summers, Eric Olson, Josh Lyons and Mark Doom.
