Suspect arrested in Cedar Rapids bank robbery

Bryar W. Byrne, 18, of Cedar Rapids, has been arrested in the March 15 robbery of the U.S. Bank location on Mount Vernon Road SE, police said.
Byrne, of 165 Westview Dr. NW, was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday at 900 Oakland Rd. NE. Further details will be posted as they become available.
Six people, including a customer, were inside the bank 3401 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, around 10:40 a.m. March 15 when a man with a handgun walked in and demanded money, police said. He got an undisclosed amount of cash and ran south along 34th Street SE.
At least one witness reported seeing a cream-colored 1980s car leaving the area at high speed shortly after the robbery .
