Ridenour, Catherine 'Katie' C.
Catherine “Katie” C. Ridenour, 94, of Monticello, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Birch.
Katie was born April 9, 1916, in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Hosch) Gross. She married Lyle E. Ridenour on Feb. 4, 1937, in Cascade. Katie worked at John McDonald Hospital for 23 years as a nurse's aide and was also a seamstress. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, study club and ACCW.
Survivors include her children, Lyle J. (Carol) and Jerry (Joyce), both of Marion, Tom (Juanita) of Coralville, and Mary Kay Lehman (Joe) of Cascade; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Bea) Gross of Larryth, Mont.; and sisters -in-law, Lois Gross of Dubuque, Velma Yeldon of Dundee and Katie Ridenour of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle in 2000; two sisters, Viola Watson and Mary Margaret Emerson; and four brothers, Ray, Paul, Bill and Robert Gross.
A memorial has been established in Katie's memory.
