Elaine Armstrong, 89, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, in Marion. Funeral services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are five nephews, Gene, Gary, Steve and Scott Armstrong and Rick Poe; and four nieces, Pat Bailey, Gertrude Bader, Sandy McDonald and Susie Hurms.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marion, in 2011.
Elaine was born May 20, 1925, in rural Springville, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Nell Frasinger Leaf. Elaine worked for 41 years at Iowa Electric and Power as accounting office manager. On Oct. 10, 1943, Elaine and Marion Armstrong were united in marriage in Springville. The couple were married for 63 years before Marion passed away.
She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and served as past matron. She also was a member of the Quota Club, and was very active at Kenwood Presbyterian (now Echo Hill Presbyterian) Church in Cedar Rapids, where she was an elder and bookkeeper. She loved golfing, bus trips to Chicago to shop, and shopping in general, playing bridge and traveling with Marion.
She was a loving daughter, wife, aunt and cousin and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
