Seber, Elaine Ruth
Elaine Ruth Seber, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at her home from pancreatic cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. and at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
She is survived by five children, Mark, Jan (Matt) Dostal, Ann (Dobber) Allee, Mary Smith and Christopher, all of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren, David, John Richard, and Brett Seber, John and Jeremy Dostal, Ran Dee Hupp, Robert and Ryan Seber, Cassie and Morgan Allee, Lonna Boesenberg, and Nicole, Brandy and Jonathan Seber; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard (Dick); and her son, Jeffrey.
Elaine was born July 25, 1929, in Marion, the daughter of Albert and Bessie Ford Petrusch. She was a 1947 graduate of Marion High School and alumni of Coe College. She married John Richard Seber on June 18, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He died in 1977. Elaine retired as an inspector in 1990 after 25 years with Rockwell Collins. Elaine was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Silver Sneakers at the Stoney Point YMCA.
Elaine loved family gatherings and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed life and loved her trips to play slots at the casinos, dining out and traveling with her closest friends, Rosemary and Lorraine.
