Trousdale, Elaine H.
Elaine H. Trousdale, 86, of Iowa Falls, formerly of Alden, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Bickford Cottage in Marion. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden, with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Elaine Hulda Trousdale was born May 8, 1923, on the family farm near Buckeye, the daughter of Charles and Frieda (Brandt) Puttkamer. She attended Buckeye schools and graduated from the Alden High School in 1942. She worked at the ASC office and the Citizen State Bank, now known as Greenbelt Bank and Trust, for 47 years, retiring in 1989. Elaine was united in marriage to G. Fay Trousdale on Dec. 18, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage in Alden. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Alden Boat Club and Glee Club. She enjoyed plays, dancing, reading, swing music, and helped on the farm.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Lana Hake and her husband, Dion, of Marion; two grandchildren, Jay Hake of Lawrence, Kan., and Erin Hake of Charleston, Ill.; a sister, Gerene Gilmore of Webster City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Pat Puttkamer; sister-in-law, Marie Puttkamer; and a brother-in-law, Bob Gilmore.
Elaine's family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Bickford Cottage for the love and support they showed to Elaine throughout the last six months of her life. The family is also very grateful to St. Luke's Hospice for the comfort and support during Elaine's final weeks.
