CORALVILLE -- CIVCO Medical Solutions will host a reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at its new sales and research facility, 2301 Jones Blvd., in Coralville.

Kalona-based CIVCO Medical Solutions broke ground for the 11,000-square-foot building in April. Approximately 50 full-time employees work in Coralville.
The $1.1 million facility houses CIVCO Medical Solutions' Multi-Modality Imaging sales, marketing and engineering functions, including an engineering lab with advanced device prototyping and testing capabilities. The company is maintaining its Kalona location as a flagship manufacturing and distribution center.
The expansion of CIVCO's facilities is due to the tremendous growth the company has experienced throughout its 30-year history. After building a manufacturing facility in Kalona in 1992 and expanding the facility two times CIVCO has grown beyond the Kalona location's capacity.
Additional manufacturing space is required to support the growth of CIVCO, which has multiple locations in the United States and Europe. The medical device manufacturer sells into more than 80 countries.
CIVCO Medical Solutions began in 1981 as a storefront operation in Kalona It has grown to offer cutting-edge medical technology to a diverse group of medical specialties.
CIVCO Medical Solutions has been in an acquisition mode since 1999 when it acquired ATL Accessories expanding its line of comprehensive medical solutions and laying the groundwork for international growth and brand recognition. Since that time CIVCO has acquired Barzell-Whitmore Maroon-Bells Inc. of Sarasota, Fla., MEDTEC of Orange City, Iowa, and Sinmed BV of the Netherlands.
Deluth, Ga.-based Roper Industries acquired CIVCO in June 2005. A public traded company, Roper provides engineered products and solutions for global niche markets, including water, energy, radio frequency and research/medical applications.
