TERRY HAGMEIER
Cedar Rapids
Terry Gene Hagmeier, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly at his home on Monday, May 18, 2015, as the result of a long and ongoing heart condition. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Terry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lori (Azinger) of Cedar Rapids; his three children and their spouses, Marcy and Josh of Cedar Rapids, Jason and Gidget of Marion and Matt and Ash of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jessica, Vicki, Russell, Alex, Katie, Morgan and Gabriella; great-grandchildren, Carmen, Maddex, Trevor and Charlotte; his sisters, Myrtle (Wayne) Strait of Keosauqua, Garnet Hall of Show Low, Ariz., and Sharon Canida of Montrose; his mother-in-law, Barbara Azinger of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Wally Lamberson of Moline, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jean Burgess and Judy Lamberson.
Terry was born July 13, 1947, in Keokuk, the son of Mary and Virgil Hagmeier. Southern Iowa would never be the same. He was in the first freshman class of Central Lee High School, where he graduated in 1965. He adored his family and spent endless hours with them fishing, hunting, playing cards and, as always, laughing. Terry had a notorious sense of humor that was only overshadowed by his love of people. Terry worked at Junge Ford in Center Point for over 20 years and had thousands upon thousands of clients, to him each a true friend. He was also a skilled carpenter and loved any good DIY project.
Terry would always bend over backward to help a friend in need and was never one to inconvenience anyone with his own troubles. He will be dearly missed and remembered often for his charm, openness and generous spirit.
