Larry T. McKinnon, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial with military honors will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom.
Survivors include his daughters, Christy (Mark) McEldoon and Cathy (Todd) Schmitz, both of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Cameron and Christopher McEldoon and Austin and Spencer Schmitz; and sister, Gloria Sears of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jo McKinnon, in 2014; and brother, Vance McKinnon Jr.
Larry Thomas McKinnon was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Vance and Mary (Smith) McKinnon. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. On Aug. 12, 1961, he married Mary Jo Byers at Christ Church in Cedar Rapids. Larry, along with Mary Jo, owned and operated McKinnon Squire Barber shop for many years. Larry enjoyed photography, bicycling and helping anyone who needed help.
