LEONA HUNWARDSEN
Clarence
Leona B. Hunwardsen, 100, of Clarence, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, in Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, by the Rev. David Mears. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Clarence. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.
Born March 6, 1914, in Cedar County, the daughter of William and Meta Roennau Horn, she married Herman Hunwardsen on June 23, 1935, in Clarence. He died Jan. 14, 1989.
Leona enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and quilting and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and was very active in St. John's Church over the years.
Survivors include sons, Robert (Phyllis) of Clarence and Dennis (Donna) of Jackson, Minn.; daughter, Cindy (Joel) Kruckenberg of Ames; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Marvin; and sister, Florence.
