Timothy James Conger, 46, of Irving, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at home after suffering a long battle with depres-sion. A celebration of Tim's life will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Elks Lodge, 801 33rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be at a later date in the spring at Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Survivors include his beloved dog, Tasha; a brother, Steve (Toni) Conger of Pacheco, Calif.; two sisters, Mary (Gordon) Kaltenbach of Cedar Rapids and Patty (Wayne McKinstry of Walford; his father, Bernie (Ruth) Conger; nieces and nephews, Tara Conger, Brittany and Kaeli Hobart, Ashlee, Adam, Micah and Olivia McKinstry, Kian and Kianna Davis, Kira, Kristina, Nichole and Bryton Kaltenbach and Ian Farley; and a host of great friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary K. Conger; grandparents, Francis and Mary Bucklin and Theodore and Julia Conger; brother-in-law, Brian Hobart; and his dog, Leslie.
Tim was born May 4, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1986. He worked for Sprint in Dallas and Overland Park, Kan., and most recently at Cintas in Irving, Texas.
Memorials may be made to The Arc of East Central Iowa.
What we will remember most are his love for people and entertaining them, his connection to dogs, and, of course, the most impeccable sense of humor. Tim led a colorful life through his darkness, brightening the world around him with his unforgettable smile and laughter, genuine heart and the sweetest soul. He accepted all with grace. He had a way of making everyone's heart smile.
