Boe, Donald D.
Donald D. Boe, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at his home after a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beckman and the Rev. Gerald Condon will officiate. Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and at the church after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Connie; two daughters, Kari (Don) Carlson of Olathe, Kan., and Kelly Boe of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Linda (Jim) Yaley of Denmark, Iowa; and a brother, Richard of Fort Madison. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lacey, Zach, Cassidy and Connor Carlson and Valerie and Daniel Zeck; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale.
Don was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Vermillion, S.D., the son of Rymer and Thelma Eide Boe. He married Connie L. Harden on April 26, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. Don worked for the C&NW-UP Railroad for over 43 years, retiring in 2001.
Don was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus No. 909. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and especially enjoyed the time spent with his beloved family and many, many friends.
Don was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Don's name.
