Parks, Joyce Marilyn (Fosdick)
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Donald and Bob Smith.
Joyce was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Mason City, the daughter of John and Nellie (Anderson) Fosdick. Joyce graduated from Marion High School in 1947. The summer after graduation she worked at Camp Good Health, where she met Howard Parks. They married the next year on Nov. 21, 1948. Joyce graduated from Mount Mercy College in 1977, second in her class, and taught for several years.
A lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Marion, she served in many capacities. Having lived in Marion her whole life, she was deeply interested in the history of Marion and the impact of the Milwaukee Railroad on the town. She helped in the founding of the Marion Heritage Center and began the Marion Cemetery Walk. She enjoyed working in her garden, the company of good friends and all kinds of music.
The Parks family would like to extend sincere thanks to St. Luke's Hospice.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Tanager, 2309 C St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
