Anderson, Mervin
Mervin Anderson, 92, of Mount Vernon Road SE, entered into eternal life on Feb. 9, 2010, at Living Center East. Per Mervin's request there will be no service. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Thelma Sevy of Cedar Rapids; three stepsons, six stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and three brothers, Howard of Santa Monica, Calif., Robert of Grant Pass, Ore., and John of Cedar Rapids.
Mervin was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Otto and Ada Wean Anderson. He married Florence V. Vick on Feb. 17, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2009. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for several years and later was a model mechanic at Rockwell-Collins, retiring from there after 39 years of service. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and proudly served in the Navy during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mervin's name.
