Kingsbury, Michael Kirk
Michael Kirk Kingsbury, 63, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, of a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Bethel AME Church in Cedar Rapids.
Michael is survived by two sisters, Sheron (Jim) Howe of St. Louis, Mo. and Bobbye Shaheen of Hiawatha; three sons, Michael (Karrie) Kingsbury of Scottsboro, Ala., Nathan Kingsbury of Huntsville, Ala. and Aaron (Brooke) Kingsbury of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; mother, Jennie; and two sisters, Tommi Jones and Mary Hanzlik.
Michael was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Sept. 14, 1949, to Robert and Jennie (Huss) Kingsbury. He grew up in the Springville and Mount Vernon areas and moved back to Cedar Rapids in his adult life. He worked on the railroad and in the construction trades. Michael enjoyed nature, being active, Hawkeye wrestling, Cubs baseball and spending time with the people he loved, especially his grandchildren.
