Cedar Rapids RoughRiders knock off Lincoln, 3-1, to leave USHL Fall Classic with 1-0-1 record

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders scored the first two goals of the game and got 28 saves from goaltender Blake Pietila in a 3-1 win Friday night over the Lincoln Stars at the USHL Fall Classic.
Grant Silianoff scored in the first period for Cedar Rapids, Jack O'Leary in the second and Dmitri Deryabin into an empty net in the third. It was Silianoff's second goal of the very young season.
The RoughRiders lost to Fargo in overtime in their first Classic game Thursday morning and will leave suburban Pittsburgh with a nice 1-0-1 record. The club played its games without top forward Marek Valach, top defenseman Kyle Looft and promising first-year forward Aidan McDonough, all out with injury.
Cedar Rapids plays this coming Friday at Chicago and the following night at Dubuque. The home opener Saturday, Oct. 13, against Sioux City.
