Goins, James 'Louie'
James “Louie” Goins, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. The Rev. Jack McClure will hold a memorial service at Teahen Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may visit after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Michael (Lori) of Nichols; daughter, Jennifer Shiek of Des Moines; stepson, Marty (Beth) Kalina of Montgomery, Ill.; five grandchildren; sister, Janice (Jerry) Strong of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James Louis Goins was born June 12, 1946 in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Arthur and Johnnie Mae Goins. He graduated from Prairie High School and the University of Iowa. He married Patricia J. Morrissey on July 3, 1993, in Cedar Rapids. Louie worked in the printing/publication industry most of his life. Louie's many friends and his family were the most important things in life to him.
