Green, Ethel May
Ethel May Green, 86, of North Liberty, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Windmill Manor Care Center, Coralville. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, 3000 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids. In place of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Nazarene World Missions and/or Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

Ethel May Bowman was born on Aug. 24, 1923, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Ranshaw) Bowman. Following high school, she attended business college. In 1942, she was united in marriage to David W. Green. She spent her life caring for her family, enjoying her friends and sharing her strong faith with all those around her. She was a member of the Whipper Will club in North Liberty, and longtime member of the Nazarene Missionary Society having served as its president.
Her family includes her four sons, Clifford W. Green (Pauline) of Maui, Hawaii, William L. Green (Jane) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Donald P. Green of Atlanta, Ga., and Melvin T. Green (Susan) of North Liberty; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Gladys (Green) Stonestreet of Alaska; and her brother's daughter, Linda (Bowman) Carter of Tiffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Hazel (Alt) Bowman; her husband; and her brother, Robert Lloyd Bowman.
