Wedewer, Mildred T.
Mildred T. Wedewer, 79, of Dyersville, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Manor Care in Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where an American Legion rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Gross.
Millie was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Holy Cross, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Gansemer) Meyer. She married Walter F. Wedewer on June 24, 1950, in Holy Cross. Millie was a longtime employee of Farmers Shipping in Dyersville and she was active in the local bowling association. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 137 and St. Francis Xavier Parish.
Surviving Millie are seven children, Anne (Steve) Hurlburt of Scandia, Minn., Susan Wedewer of Des Moines, Joe (Mary) Wedewer of Ankeny, Mary (Larry) Cooksley of Oskaloosa, Chris (Sandy) Wedewer of St. Charles, Mo., Jon (Darla) Wedewer of Dyersville and Jeannie (Rod) Gaul of Shawnee, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, Jodie and Elizabeth Cooksley, Jenni (Shawn) Kelley and Kirsten Wedewer, Matthew and Amy Wedewer, Alyssa and Nicholas Gaul and Hailey and Adam Wedewer; one great-grandchild, Konnor Kelley; three sisters, Dorothy Kupferschmidt and Mary (Owen) Nugent, both of Dubuque, and Helen Feyen of Dyersville; sisters-in-law, Bernice Meyer and Germaine Wedewer, both of Dubuque; brothers-in-law, Don (Maribeth) Wedewer of Charleston, S.C., and Robert Wedewer of Freehold, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1986; a brother, Jerome Meyer; a sister, Anna Mae (Don) Conlon; and brothers-in-law, David Kupferschmidt, William Feyen, Alfred Wedewer, Edward Wedewer and James Wedewer.
