Kohler, James 'Jim' Robert Jr.
James “Jim” Robert Kohler Jr., 68, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away in Phoenix, Ariz., on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. He was born March 30, 1942, in Burlington, Iowa, to James and Lucile (Hargitt) Kohler. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. He spent many years working for Northwestern Bell in Cedar Rapids, before taking a job with AT&T and moving to Phoenix in 1982. He was the executive director of the Phoenix 100 Club for five years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge while living in Cedar Rapids.
Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughters, Lynn (Robert) Gibson and Kimberly (Christopher) Peach; stepsons, Brian (Yu Jin) and Travis Wood; brother, Michael; sister, Susan; five grandchildren; and a stepgranddaughter.
A private family gathering will be held Saturday, Jan. 15.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley. 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
