Ard, Marlys A.
Marlys A. Ard, 77, of 751 Paralta Rd, Springville, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, in St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. T. Edwards Breed officiating. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 8 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Dean; two sons, Terry (Becky) of Mt. Vernon, and David of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Gladys (Eugene) Wagner of Fisher, Minn., Laurain Jurchen of Crookston, Minn., Irene (Terry) Schneider of Marshfield, Wis., Erwin (Marcie) Jurchen of Seward, Neb., Esther Jurchen of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Arnold (Tamra) Jurchen of Beaver Creek, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Joe, Sonya, Andrea, Dennis, and Bailee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marlys was born July 8, 1932, in Crookston, Minn., to Willie and Alicia Hoppe Jurchen. She married Dean E. Ard on Sept. 4, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minn. She was employed by AT&T as an operator and in the business office. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and the Telephone Pioneers.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
