Mervyn Charles Wacker was born March 20, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Paul John Henry and Terry (Ayres) Wacker. He attended schools in Davenport, graduating from Central High School. He was united in marriage to Helen Ruth Havercamp on Oct. 8, 1955, in Davenport. The couple and their family moved to Iowa City in 1970 where Merv worked in sales for Component Homes.
Merv and his wife, Helen, loved being together, creating lasting and loving memories between them and their children. Camping was always a part of their summers, along with attending Corvair auto shows, as both he and Helen were members of the Corvair Society of America and the Iowa Corvair Enthusiasts. They enjoyed supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes, but most of all, loved being together as a family. Seldom did you see one without the other!
Merv has been loved by many and will be missed by those who have had the pleasure and blessing of having him in their lives.
His family includes children, Kimberly D. Wacker of O'Fallon, Mo., David C. Wacker of Corpus Christi, Texas, Karen W. Tinkey (Bret) of Cedar Rapids and John R. Wacker (Darla) of Fort Madison; three grandsons, Duane (Leslie), Austin and Zachary; and three great-grandsons, Reece, Collin and Wyatt.
Merv was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on July 7, 2015; his parents, Paul and Terry Wacker; and sister-in-law, Betty Havercamp.
