Biedenbach, Margaret Leona 'Marg' Penrod
Margaret Leona “Marg” Penrod Biedenbach, 91, of Mechanicsville, died surrounded by her family and friends, Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Marg's viewing and visitation will be today from 4 until 7 p.m. today, with rosary to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church by the Rev. Andy Kelly. She will be buried next to her husband Don in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Surviving Marg are three sons, John “Jack” (Linda), Marion, Ronald (Marisa), Jacksonville, N.C., and Don Jr. (Pat), Marion; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is also survived by a brother, Richard Jedlicka, Tipton; and, sisters, Delores Timmerman, Bennett, Carol Jennings, Moline, Ill., and Rita Sissel, Tipton. Preceding Marg in death were her parents; husband, Don who died Oct. 9, 1999; and a brother, Kenneth Jedlicka.
Marg was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Fairfax, the daughter of Lee and Ruth Murphy Penrod. She graduated from Fairfax High School and married Donald Biedenbach in November 1937, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She and her husband Don farmed in Cedar and Johnson counties, and retired to Mechanicsville in 1984. Marg was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Women's Guild, and unselfishly helped many years with funeral lunches.
Marg loved to cook, and the grandchildren will miss her homemade noodles. She loved her garden and quilting. Her strong faith and guidance will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials in Marg's memory may be gifted to the Dennis and Donna Hospice House, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
