CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and parent Minnesota Twins announced Monday that third baseman T.J. White has been reassigned to the Kernels from high-Class A Fort Myers, with pitcher Luke Westphal being promoted from Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers.
White played in 20 games for Fort Myers after being assigned there July 20, hitting .171 with two RBIs. In 74 games with the Kernels, he is hitting .230 with 26 RBIs.
Westphal made six starts and seven overall appearances for the Kernels, going 1-2 with a 2.70 earned run average. He allowed 20 hits in 30 innings and struck out 28.
Additionally, infielder Sean Miller has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a right thumb contusion. The 2015 draft pick is hitting .318 in 13 games.
The moves leave the Kernels, who host Dayton on Tuesday night with 24 active players, one shy of maximum.
The Midwest League also announced Monday that Kernels starting pitcher Sam Gibbons has been honored as the league's Pitcher of the Week. Gibbons threw a four-hit shutout in a start this past weekend at Kane County.
He has a 21 2/3-inning scoreless streak.
