Horstman, Lloyd Fred
Lloyd Fred Horstman was born the son of Harvey and Elsie (Friedlein) Horstman on July 3, 1929, on the farm near Guttenberg. He died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center from a long illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Harold McMillin officiating. Interment will be at Guttenberg City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Guttenberg.
Lloyd is survived by two brothers, Dennis (Sue) Horstman of Guttenberg and Kenneth (Marlene) Horstman of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Martha Horstman of Guttenberg and Mary Ellen Horstman of Dyersville; and 14 nieces and nephews, Jeff Horstman, Jay Horstman, Joyce (Gary) Smith, June (Harlan) Werger, Janice (Gary) Harbaugh, Julie (Jeffrey) Rohner, Judith (Dale) Tuecke, Mike Horstman, Mark Horstman, Linda (Jim) Dryer, Una (Lester) Groth, Deb Papagni, Harvey (Bonnie) Horstman and Richard Donegan.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eunice and Irene; four brothers, Vernon, Alvin, Robert and Harvey Jr.; and one nephew, Carl Horstman.
Lloyd graduated from Guttenberg Public School and farmed for several years until his retirement. In his free time Lloyd truly enjoyed dancing and anticipated a good card game.
