Dirks, Murva
Murva Dirks, 76, of Monticello, formerly of Langworthy, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at her home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery, at a later date. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Surviving is one sister, Maldean (Dale) Mueller; a niece, Mareda Pierce and her son, Joshua, all of Monticello; and a nephew, Marlon (Nancy) Mueller and sons, Jacob and Andrew of West Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Murva Clarrene Dirks was born Oct. 17, 1934, at Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Carl and Hattie Folkers Dirks. Murva graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1952. The majority of her life she worked doing day to day farming activities. She also worked for the R.E. A. for a while. Murva was a life long member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. She was baptized on Nov. 18, 1934, and confirmed her faith on March 21, 1948. She moved from her home in Langworthy in 1999, to Meadow Ridge in Anamosa. She later returned to Monticello where she resided at Sycamore Gardens.
