Emery, Dorothy Marie

Dorothy Marie Emery left us June 5, 2012. She was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Van Horne, Iowa, the first of seven children of Lester and Jessie Hauser.

She was married to Joel Emery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Nov. 21, 1947. She worked at Cryovac on the line and was active in the union. She was elected president of the local, the first woman to hold that position. In 1960, she moved with her family to San Bernardino, Calif., then later to Yucaipa, Calif. She held various jobs over the years, but the one she was proudest of and enjoyed the most was that of a tutorial assistant to special needs children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Jessie Hauser; brothers, Orville Hauser and Gerald Hauser; children, Richard Emery, Christopher Emery, John Brody and Pat Cirkl; grandchildren, Debbie Cirkl, Randy Paul and Lesa Paul; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Cole and Destiny Dronebarger.

She is survived by her husband Joel E. Emery; daughter, Judy C Paul (Robert); son, Joel E. Emery Jr. (Noreen); brothers, Cliff Hauser (Maggie), Vaughn Hauser (Cleo) and Robert Hauser (Jackie); sister, Donna Cady; sister-in-law, Joyce Hauser; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no memorial service.
