CEDAR RAPIDS - President Barack Obama will visit Des Moines Monday for a back-to-school event and a town-hall meeting with high school juniors, seniors and their parents to discuss college access and affordability.
Obama will join Secretary of Education Arne Duncan's sixth annual back to school bus tour. The town hall meeting at North High School Auditorium will be closed to the public, but streamed live at whitehouse.gov/live.
Earlier in the week, the president said in an email he 'looking forward to having a conversation with juniors and seniors gearing up for college as well as with their parents who, in many cases, are trying to figure out how to pay for it.”
This is the president's first visit to Iowa since January when he went to Cedar Falls to talk about expanding high-speed Internet access.
