Harris, Lois Verneil
Lois Verneil Harris, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at her home. Services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include four daughters, Donna (Steve) Mullenix and Eileen (Dave) Lathrop, all of Cedar Rapids, Jacqueline (Richard) Imhoff and Lori (Ben) Bena, all of Palo; two sons, David (Rhonda) of Toddville and Kevin of Cedar Rapids; and four sisters, Devota Koudelka of Cedar Rapids, Charlotte Jean Boren of Iowa City, Vivian Lytle of Solon and Bonnie (Leland) Heisdorffer of Sigourney.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; a brother, Earl; two sisters, Florence and Betty; and three grandchildren.
Lois was born April 11, 1932, in Atchison, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Ada Clark Coghlan. She married Richard Dale Harris on July 1, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. Dale passed away in 1995. Lois worked in food service for the Cedar Rapids School System for over 30 years and later at Hy-Vee.
Lois enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, going to the casino and especially the time spent with friends and her beloved family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
