Dalziel, Richard
Richard Dalziel, 83, of What Cheer, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, What Cheer. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the What Cheer Fire & Rescue, Keokuk County Hospice or the What Cheer Christian Church.
Richard is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, James (Rita) Dalziel and Rodney Dalziel, both of What Cheer; and three daughters, Sandra George of What Cheer, Debra (Larry) Swink of Ladora, and Sharon (Kenneth) Mercer of What Cheer. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Art and Rachel Dalziel, Alexandria Dalziel, Lianna Dalziel, Jamie and Betsy Banks-George, Jennifer and Mike Pacheco, Jessica and Andy Gibbons, Kimberly Mercer and Eric and Carrie Mercer. Richard was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl (Doug) Clark of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Betty Smith of Oskaloosa and Shirley (Dennis) Metzer of Tampa, Fla.; and a brother-in-law Keith Stephen of Newton.
