Van Nostrand, Nelle 'Virginia'
Nelle “ Virginia” Van Nostrand, 91, of Iowa City, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at Oaknoll Health Care Center.
Family graveside services will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, PEO Foundation or the charity of your choice.
Virginia was born September 21, 1918 in Fairfield, the daughter of Lewis and Virginia Stever Van Nostrand. She was a 1940 graduate of Iowa State University and served in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps during World War II.
Virginia was a home economist for 31 years. She had been employed by Betty Crocker Kitchens, the Admiral Corporation and Whirlpool Corporations. Following her retirement in 1987 Virginia moved to Iowa City where she worked part time at McDonalds.
Virginia is survived by her nieces, Lisa Yates of Edina, Minn., and Susan Chesler of Boca Raton, Fla.; and nephew, Clark Van Nostrand of Greenwich, Conn.
