Garson, Christopher Baird
Christopher Baird Garson, 44, died at his home Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, a result of an apparent cardiac arrest. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Family committal services will be held at Oakland Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, PO Box 1345, Iowa City, IA 52244.
Chris was born Oct. 26, 1968, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Arnold and Lynne Baird Garson. He grew up mostly in Des Moines and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School there. He also was a graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon.
Chris worked in the standardized testing industry for Educational Testing Service. He specialized in designing writing tests for the high school level. He had a love for music, poetry and reading; also baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs.
Chris will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends and co-workers.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Isabel Frances Cody of Iowa City; his parents, Arnold and Lynne Garson of Sioux Falls, S.D. his brother, Scott Garson and wife Becky Scott of Columbia, Mo., and their children, Naomi and Levin; his sister, Gigi Garson O'Hara and husband Kelly O'Hara of Omaha and their children, Sophie and Jack; his sister, Megan Garson Hieronymus and husband Jason Hieronymus of Iowa City and their children, Cymry and Sabin; his cousin, Stacia Funk Sanchez and husband Jim Sanchez of San Anselmo, Calif.; his cousin, Jeffrey Funk of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and Josie, his beloved dog.
