Benesh, Christopher L.
Christopher L. Benesh, 34, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor John Caughron. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa.
Survivors include his son, Jaden Benesh of Burlington; father, Darren Benesh of Cedar Rapids; mother, Sandy (Martens) Sacora of New London; fiancee, Dawn Janey; siblings, Bobbie (Tom) Morris of Arkansas, Jon (Kim) Sacora of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Ashley) Sacora of Cedar Rapids and Troy Gonzalez of Burlington; grandparents, Sarah Martens of Shellsburg and Kenneth and Patricia Benesh of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Cheyenne Rose and Kiowa Lilly; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vernon Martens; and his aunt, Sarah Hall.
Born Aug. 29, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Chris was the son of Darren Benesh and Sandy (Martens)) Benesh. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1997 and became a journeyman iron worker for Local #89 of which he was very proud. Chris loved spending time with his son, who was the light of his life. He was an avid Bears fan and enjoyed fishing, classic cars and his collection of fish tanks.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Chris' memory for his son, Jaden's education.
