Buresh, Dennis E.
Dennis E. Buresh, 69, of 8401 Santa Maria Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at First Presbyterian Church near Ely, by the Rev. Julie Schuett. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Buresh Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Brian (Denise Miller) Buresh of Cedar Rapids and Brad (Cheri) Buresh of Walford; grandchildren, Lindsey (Danny) Bleichner, Ashley Buresh, Amy Buresh, Paige Buresh and Taylor Buresh; and great-grandchildren, Junia Bleichner and Jonah Bleichner. Also surviving are his sister, Diane (Jeff) Reist of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Betty Buresh of Cedar Rapids and Katherine (Vince) Huelskamp of Colorado; mother-in-law, Martha Vanourny of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Buresh and wife Eutona; twin brother, Dale Buresh; and his father-in-law, James Vanourny.
Born Feb. 14, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Dennis was the son of Edwin and Martha (Blazek) Buresh. On Sept. 7, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Vanourny. He established Contemporary Builders in 1966 and was the builder and developer of Villa Hermosa.
Dennis was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church near Ely, was president of the Cedar Rapids and Marion Homebuilders Association in 1977, and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He was in business with his sons at Buresh Architectural Millwork in Urbana.
Dennis loved woodworking, building and gardening and was very social. He loved his family and his greatest joy was spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He never met a building project he couldn't find a way to accomplish in style and with automation. He loved his family and friends, loved to share stories and wasn't afraid to argue any point.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to be distributed to charities close to Dennis' heart.
