We need clarification of the 2nd Amendment
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 17, 2012 11:36 am
I am sick and tired and emotionally unglued over all the massacres in our schools and other public places.
Last year, Sweden had only 21 shootings all year. This is one more than the number of children killed in Connecticut. Thirty-four people were killed in Switzerland in one year, two more than the Virginia Tech massacre.
The Sandy Hook victims were mostly little kids!
We need to have a clarification of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, which says: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
Many of us interpret this as keeping and bearing arms if called up to be in a militia. This does not give us the right to massacre babies! We are supposed to be a good people in a good country. Let's do something.
The United States is thousands above all the other developed countries in shooting deaths. We should be so ashamed.
